Sports analyst Bart Scott seems to have high praise for Travis Hunter as he drew a comparison with an MLB superstar, following the remarkable victory of the Colorado Buffaloes against the North Dakota State Bison in the opening week of this season.
After the disappointing run last season, the Buffaloes had an impressive game on Thursday by clinching a 31-26 victory having Hunter as the biggest contributor. As the latest edition of ESPN’s First Take dived into the discussion about the game, analyst Scott showered high praises on the star cornerback.
While admitting that Colorado still needs to work on its plays, the former NFL player believes Hunter outshined everyone and earned the honor of being compared with the MLB prodigy Shohei Ohtani.

The reason why Scott drew the astounding comparison is that during Thursday Night college football game, Hunter excelled at both wideout and cornerback positions– something common for the MLB fans to witness as Ohtani is promptly known for being a dual-threat playing as both pitcher and slugger.
Travis Hunter earns top NFL draft prediction praise from Bart Scott
The Ohtani comparison wasn’t the only highlight from the First Take analyst for the Colorado star cornerback. He predicted quite a high draft pick for him in the next 2025 NFL Draft when Hunter will join the list of draft prospects along with his teammate and quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
“For me, he is the No.1 pick,” predicted Scott with high confidence and receiving affirmation from sports analyst Smith as well.
While receiving high praise from analysts, Hunter also earned appreciation for his performance by NBA superstar LeBron James, who expressed being totally blown away by Hunter, on social media. Hunter finished the game with 132 yards and three touchdowns and contributed to three tackles in the defensive line.
Unfortunately, there’s a possibility that Hunter wouldn’t play at both positions in the NFL because it’s not freely allowed. Even if it did get approved, there’s a minute chance that Hunter will be allowed on his rookie deal.
