The 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ( UTME) kick-started by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board ( JAMB) , across the country on Friday was peaceful and orderly in Abuja .
This was even as parents and guardians of candidates, complied with directive issued by the Registrar of the Examination body , Professor Ishaq Oloyede , by staying several meters away from examination halls .
Orderliness across the various designated centres where the Computer Based Examination ( CBT) , took place was seen through on the spot assessment made to some of the centres as a roving supervisor and credible reports obtained from other centres across the six Area Councils in Abuja .
Specifically, in Kubwa town under Bwari Area Council, visitations made to Rosa Mystica Academy and Adeola International School , showed that the examination was conducted very well by those assigned for that purpose by JAMB.
One of the candidates who sat for the Exam at Rosa Mystica Academy near FCT Water Board office in Kubwa , Saffiyya Lawal Bello , attested to the functionality of the computers used by the Examination body and orderliness ensured by examination officers.
” The computer I used to do the exam functioned very perfectly. It didn’t give me any problem at all and i believe that was how the other computers functioned because i didn’t hear any body during the exam calling for help from any of the invigilators ” , she said .
Similar attestation was made by Promise Chikwendu who sat for the Examination at Adeola International School Kubwa .
He said though the examination scheduled for 7:00am , eventually started at 8:00am but the one hour delay did not in anyway affected its smooth conduct as regards expected optimal functionality of computers provided .
Reports gathered from other conventional and roving supervisors across the designated centres in the Six Area Councils , indicated that the examinations went smoothly without attempts by candidates from any of the centres to cheat or their parents and guardians interfering in the process .
