There’s a new outbreak of salmonella and the CDC is recommending citizens not to eat certain foods that could be contaminated.

The CDC reminds us once again not to eat raw cookie dough. That’s because at least three people have been hospitalized over a new flour-related salmonella outbreak.
Consumer Reports ranked the top ten foods that cause food poisoning:

So what makes flour dangerous? That’s because, like most of the items on the list, it’s raw and undercooked. Wheat is occasionally exposed to animal feces during cultivation, and processing it into flour does not kill the bacteria.
Cooking it is the only way to ensure its death. That’s why you shouldn’t eat raw cookie dough or lick the spoon while making brownie. Many such doughs also contain eggs. Cookies didn’t make the top ten, but they can also contain salmonella.
