Former Maryland Terrapins wide receiver Rakim Jarrett was one of several 2023 NFL draft candidates who visited the New Orleans Saints facility on Tuesday, according to a photo from the Saints’ locker room that Jarrett shared on social media has. Teams are only allowed to accept 30 prospects at their HQ each year before the draft, so this matters.
Other prospects visiting the Saints Tuesday included Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker and Jarrett’s Maryland teammate left tackle Jaelyn Duncan.
Jarrett had his most productive year of college in 2021, when he posted career-highs with 62 receptions for 829 yards and 5 touchdown catches while fielding both outside the numbers and inside the slot. Fallen passports and disagreements were hurdles for him throughout his college career.
Hope Jarrett’s visit went well. He weighed 5-foot-11 and 192 pounds with 31.3-inch arms but put up solid numbers in the vaults and an impressive 40-yard dash time (4.44 seconds). However, he didn’t complete his agility test with the NFL Scouting Combine, which could explain what drew the Saints to him. He is expected to be selected in the middle rounds of the 2023 draft.
