The Tshwane metro has launched an investigation into an employee who fell from scaffolding at the Wonderboom Are Yeng bus station on Friday.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the man was working on a bridge when the incident happened.
“According to our reports, he was pouring concrete on the Bondek of the bridge and fell resulting in serious injury.
“We are investigating the matter to get to the root of this and see who was at fault regarding this.
“We will look at all possible scenarios, the safety side and as well as negligence side.
“We are certain that we will be able to resolve this matter.”
Mashigo said the metro wishes the employee a speedy recovery.
“We are grateful that he was quickly transported to a hospital for further medical attention and we hope he will recuperate soon.”
Paramedic services LifeMed and Netcare 911 responded to the scene.
LifeMed spokesperson Dean Slater said at the time the patient was airlifted to a hospital in Joburg with “severe head injury and polytrauma”.
He said the man “required immediate life-saving intervention”.
Rekord understands the man was in a stable condition.
