‘Suicide Squad’ Image Gives New Look At Jared Leto As Joker

Suicide Squad by David Ayer was infamous for having a number of deleted scenes starring Jared Leto as Joker. An image of one of these scenes was recently revealed on Instagram, giving us a fresh look at the Clown Prince of Crime.

David Ayer’s version of Suicide Squad has seemingly never been more popular. The film was lambasted upon release over everything from its characters to its plot to Ayer’s directing. Much of this ire was blamed on interference from studio heads at Waner Bros. who wanted the film to be more funny to match the tone of Marvel movies like Guardians of the Galaxy. This led to many scenes being cut wholecloth from the film, including much of the development of Leto’s Joker. A brand new look at one of these scenes can be seen below.

Following the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut, many fans have hope that Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad

can eventually see the light of day. Ayer has recently teased this possibility, saying that he has spoken to DC Studios Co-Chair James Gunn and asked fans to give him time. Only time will tell if Ayer’s vision for the film will ever see the light of day in the future of the DC universe.

The future of the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, teleivsion, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.

Shazam! Fury of the GodsThe FlashBlue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with all four DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
