Rietgat Saps arrest 48 people in week

Rietgat police arrested 48 suspects in the past week for various crimes.

The suspects were arrested for the commission of inter alia: murder, drunk driving, theft, rape, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearm, domestic violence, possession of drugs, housebreaking and theft, intimidation, contravention of a protection order and car hijacking, said police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.

Maluleka said the war to eradicate crime continues.

“We continue to enforce law and order by ensuring that transgressors are put behind bars and members of the community live fearlessly in peace and harmony.

He said the police are serious about bringing change to the precinct.

“We will continue with our fight against transgressors and we will continue to follow any lead in order to make arrests.”

The suspects will appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.

Police further urged the community to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of any person involved in criminal activity.
