Tennessee (24-10, 11-7 SEC), No. 4, defeated Louisiana (26-8, 13-5, Sun Belt), No. 13 (26-8, 13 -5), 58-55.
The competition took place in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Tennessee advance to play No. 5-seeded Duke in the second round. Duke defeated Oral Roberts 74-51 in the first round on Thursday.
Louisiana joined the NCAA tournament after winning the Sun Belt Conference championship that season. Tennessee entered NCAA tournament play after being eliminated by Missouri in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament.
