Utah Senator Mike Lee is on the organizing committee of a new international organization that aims to provide an alternative to the World Economic Forum, the organization that holds an annual conference for the business and political elite in Davos, Switzerland.
The organization, The Alliance for Responsible Citizenship, was founded by Jordan Peterson, a Canadian author and former psychology professor, and a group of over 30 politicians, business leaders, scientists and social commentators from around the world.
The early members appear to have come primarily from conservative or centre-right circles. They include former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Harvard professor Arthur Brooks and entrepreneur and GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Other US politicians involved include two other Republicans, Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas and Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana.
In an episode of his podcast, Peterson spoke about the making of the new project, which he announced on Joe Rogan’s podcast in January. The organization is looking for ways to balance global development, environmental protection and human thriving, Peterson said.
The organization is also looking at the role of families in global development, Peterson said.
In a statement launching the organization, Lee said ARC is “committed to creating a positive future filled with hope and optimism.”
“The story of our world doesn’t have to be just a story of ongoing decline or a strained, permanent crisis,” he said. “In fact, humanity is in a better place than ever; We have more wealth and health, more resources and skills. We have the potential to make our lives even better as long as we use our current abundance wisely.”

On his substack, Winston Marshall, a former member of the band Mumford and Sons who is also on ARC’s organizing committee, said he sees the project as an “opportunity to shake up a renegade generation.”

ARC’s co-founder, Britain’s Baroness Philippa Stroud, wrote in an op-ed in The Telegraph that the group’s mission “is to create a community dedicated to offering a positive and hopeful vision for the future”.
“We will look at ways in which truly open markets can be encouraged to create prosperity for all, including those who are ‘left behind’ by globalisation. And we will consider the role that families and communities have to play in the 21st century,” Stroud said in a statement.
The organization said it would hold an inaugural conference in London in late 2023.
