Fortnite removes Support a Creator code from the Item shop

Fortnite no longer has a creator code in the Item Shop. Epic Games removed this feature on March 22, 2023, shortly after the release of Creative 2.0. Many creators were shocked by this development, but there may be an explanation for it.

While some individuals believe that this exclusion is simply a glitch, Epic may have decided to remove the system to replace it with a new version. Regardless, the development is very unfortunate for those who rely on the creator code. However, the new system is much better and more profitable for Epic.

The Support-A-Creator system allowed Fortnite creators to make money while promoting the game. These people earned an income by having their supporters purchase cosmetic items from the Item Shop.

In short, Epic Games shared five percent of the total money spent on Fortnite’s Item Shop with such creators. However, this is no longer the case, as the video game developer has introduced a new system. It is called Creator Economy 2.0, and this inclusion is much better than Support-A-Creator. The new system allows creators to earn 40% of the Item Shop’s net revenue by simply publishing active custom islands.

Here’s what the developers had to say about the change:

“We’ve removed the Support-A-Creator device from the game entirely, which means creators can focus on developing fun and engaging experiences without asking you to use their Creator Code.”

Unfortunately, creators will have to actively participate in the making of new maps if they want to keep earning money. While the new system may put certain individuals at a disadvantage, there is no doubt that it’s much better.

Creator-made islands that attract new players and manage to keep them returning will be very profitable. This means their makers can earn a lot of money from them.

Fortnite Creative 2.0 was released for free and is currently available through the Epic Games Launcher. The new tools are only available on PC at the moment, but custom maps can be played on other platforms.
