DeSantis speaks at the April evangelical Liberty University convocation

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) will speak at Liberty University’s April convocation, the school announced Wednesday.

The Florida governor will address students at the event, which begins at 10:30 am on April 14.

“We are pleased to announce that Liberty University will host Governor Ron DeSantis as a speaker at the convention next month,” said Interim President Jerry Prevo. “As a university committed to educating Champions for Christ with academic excellence, it is important for our students to hear from some of the country’s most influential leaders who have made a commitment to the Christian faith while serving in the public square. Governor DeSantis joins a long line of notable guests at the convocation. We look forward to hearing how he encourages, educates and inspires our students.”

Previous speakers included Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), Lt. gov. Winsome Sears (R-VA), former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Presidents Donald Trump and Jimmy Carter, 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former Governor of Texas, Rick Perry (R), former Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal (R), the late former Senator John McCain, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush, and former Governor of Alaska , Sarah Palin, attended the Evangelical University.

The convocation takes place on Wednesday and Friday at the school. According to the university, it is “the world’s largest gathering of Christian students.”

This comes as DeSantis has also made plans to deliver a keynote address at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th Leadership Summit, which will also be held in April.

Though he hasn’t announced a bid for the 2024 White House, he’s widely expected to launch his campaign in the summer.
