Anthony was born in Yalta, Ukraine’s SSR, and the Soviet Union. Anatoliy Vladimirovich Fedorov is his given name. His father is Vladimir Fedorov, and his mother is Natalia Fedorov. When he was nine years old, he and his elder brother Denis relocated to the United States, first to Florida and then to Brooklyn, New York, before landing in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Trevose, Pennsylvania. He had a tracheotomy as a child due to a congenital abnormality in his windpipe, from which a wound can still be seen.
Despite predictions that he would never be able to speak again, he healed and began singing at a young age. He’s a baritone who also plays the keyboard and guitar. Fedorov is bilingual (Russian and English). He can also perform in Spanish and Italian. Unfortunately, his sibling perished from cancer in September 2006. He attended Bucks County Community College after graduating from Neshaminy High School in 2003.

Fedorov appeared on American Idol during the 2005 spring season. He was well known among the American Idol auditioners for performing duets, which all three judges believe to be his finest approach. Fedorov was voted off the competition on May 11, 2005, after performing “I’m Already There” by Lonestar and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes during Country Music/Gamble and Huff week. Many say that his performance of “If You Don’t Know Who I Am By Now” was one of his finest, with him remaining on-key throughout the song and receiving acclaim from the judges. It was deemed one of his most effective performances, along with Celine Dion’s “I Surrender” and Paul Young’s “Anytime You Go Away.”
Fedorov placed third on NBC’s Fear Factor special Reality TV edition in June 2006, alongside American Idol season 2 winner Carmen Rasmusen. He appeared in four segments of Triple Threat, which broadcast on MTV’s Little Talent Show on September 26, 2006. Fedorov went on to perform extensively after American Idol, including appearances at summer festivals and performances.
