Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Sunday raised an alarm that the raid of the residence of a Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili, last Friday by security operatives was an attempt to allegedly assassinate the female judge in Abuja. has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government to probe the invasion of the residence of Justice Mary Odili. Governor Wike at a press briefing in Abuja urged the federal government to urgently investigate the invasion of the residence of the female Judge of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to identify the perpetrators as the various security agencies deny involvement. He maintained that if the assassination plot was successful, the federal government would have in the usual tradition been promising to fish put the perpetrators to bring them to book, noting that the matter would have ended there.

Wike had declared: “We are taking steps as a government and people of the state to see that this matter is concluded and find out who are those who are the perpetrators.

“We think that there is an attempt to assassinate Justice Mary Odili, the husband and members of the family, there are no two ways about it. If they had succeeded, all the Federal Government would have told us, we will get to the bottom of the matter because that has always been the normal language.

“The issue here has nothing to do with the Attorney General, we are happy he said he is not aware. We said, okay since you are not aware, we are giving you 48 hours to tell us who is responsible.”

Wike maintained that the government can detect the perpetrators of the raid within 48 hours. The governor cautioned that the federal government should be held responsible if anything happens to Justice Odili, her husband or any member of the family.

“We are telling the world that if anything happens to the family of Dr. Peter Odili, the Federal Government should be held accountable because they have shown that there is something they are about to carry out.

“If anything happens to my Lord, Justice Mary Odili, the husband and the children, the Federal Government should be held responsible.

“That is the position of the Rivers State government and Rivers people because enough is enough,” Governor Wike declared.

The governor challenged the federal government to identify the group that got the search warrant and for what purpose. He noted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) cannot just deny knowing about the raid but should detect those behind the operation.
