The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said that he and all major stakeholders in Rivers State have agreed to work with the suspended governor of the state, Sim Fubara.
Wike said this while fielding questions from reporters after President Bola Tinubu brokered peace between the suspended governor and himself on Thursday night.
The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed in a post on his official X account that Tinubu had a closed-door meeting with Fubara, Wike and some lawmakers from Rivers State.
“We thank God and to his glory that today, which is June 26, 2025, peace has finally returned to Rivers State,” Wike told reporters after the meeting.
“We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has also agreed to work with all of us. We are members of the same political family.
“Just like humans, we will have our disagreements, but then, you will also have a time to settle your disagreements, and that has been finally concluded today.
“We have come to report to Mr. President that this is what we have agreed upon. For me, everything is over and I will enjoin everybody who believes in working with us to also work together with everybody and that there is no acrimony. Everything is over. It’s a day we have to thank the Almighty.”
President Tinubu hosted a reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.
Former Rivers State Governor Wike and his successor, Fubara, had been at war with each other since 2023 due to political differences.
