Man Escapes Death as Communication Mast Collapses on Ogun Building

A yet-to-be identified landlord, on Tuesday, narrowly escaped death as a communication mast collapsed on his residential building in Akute area of Ogun State.

The Journal Nigeria gathered that the mast belonging to IHS Company, collapsed due to the severe weather conditions.

Confirming the incident to Journal Nigeria on Wednesday, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said it happened at about 2:39 pm.

Odutola disclosed that one Mr. Moses Olalere reported the incident to the command.

Odutola said, “According to his eyewitness account, a communication mast belonging to IHS Company, located in Ajuwon, Akute, Ogun State, collapsed due to the severe weather conditions. The mast fell on a residential building in Unity Estate, Alagbole

“Fortunately, the landlord, who was inside the house at the time of the incident, survived with minor bruises. He was promptly attended to by medical personnel and is confirmed to be in stable condition”.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, urged companies that own masts situated near residential areas to assess their structural integrity and ensure safety of lives and property.
