Imo State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning, Chief Enyinnaya Onuegbu, has denied reports linking him to any ambition to succeed Governor Hope Uzodimma in 2027.
In a statement issued on Saturday evening, Onuegbu, a close ally of the governor, described the claims as baseless and a figment of the imagination of those peddling the rumours.
He stressed that he never mandated anyone or group to make such declarations on his behalf, adding that his focus remains on delivering on the responsibilities assigned to him by the governor.
“I have not and will not mandate any person or group to purport on my behalf any intention to aspire for the governorship election at this time,” Onuegbu stated.
He further said: “The only political ambition I have now is to concentrate on my present role as an appointee in the cabinet of His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON, Governor of Imo State, and my benefactor, to whom I remain loyal and eternally grateful for my political progress, and deliver on his expectations from my official duties.”
Onuegbu appealed to the public to exclude his name from any list of potential governorship aspirants for the 2027 elections, emphasising his loyalty to Governor Uzodimma and his administration’s vision for the state.
