Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to continue with his work and not pay attention to “bystanders and busybodies”.
Tinubu made this charge on Tuesday while commissioning of the rehabilitated International Conference Centre in Abuja.
He said, “Don’t pay attention to the busybody and the bystanders. Whatever they say, continue with your good work. You are a transformational leader. You have the voice, foresight, division, and determination to succeed”.
Tinubu’s advice comes a week after the FCT Minister received clapbacks from various political figures and commentators for his comments on a former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
In a media parley, the FCT minister made several critical remarks about Rotimi Amaechi, his predecessor as Governor of Rivers State. Wike described Amaechi, who was also a former minister of transportation, as an individual who is hungry for power.
Following the media parley, a former presidential spokesperson and television anchor with Arise News, Reuben Abati, accused Wike of being rude and disrespectful to Amaechi, noting that Amaechi is Wike’s boss in politics.
Abati stated, “I think that Nyesom Wike is very rude and disrespectful because Rotimi Amaechi is his boss in politics.”
