In May 2025, Bravo reported that a new city was joining the Real Housewives franchise, Rhode Island. The addition makes it the ninth active city in the franchise. The news comes after Bravo announced it wasn’t immediately green-lighting one of the most popular cities in the franchise, The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
The series has been in a slump the past couple of seasons, with a majority of the cast fighting with each other. With low viewership, pausing RHONJ and introducing a new series to the franchise is a smart move by Bravo.
While not much is known about The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, rumors quickly spread that RHONJ’s Dolores Catania had something to do with the series and the Housewives.
Dolores Catania Calls The Rhode Island Housewives “Wild”
The announcement of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island brought many questions. Who was in the cast, and why did the network choose Rhode Island? As it turns out, The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Dolores Catania has a connection to the series, making the new city similar to New Jersey.
While on Jeff Lewis Live, Dolores was asked about the rumors of her moving on from RHONJ and joining RHORI. “Well, I’m not gonna be a star, and I will visit maybe,” she shared.
Dolores went on to say that she has friends with the potential cast, insisting that the cast is “wild” but incomparable to RHONJ.

The mother of two continued, “I’m very privy to all the shows now. I watch them all ’cause I speak on the podcast, The Two Ts, and I just want to say, really, you’ve gotta go far to beat Jersey.”

If Dolores Catania does appear on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island while The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on pause, she joins the list of other Housewives who have appeared in other cities in the franchise.

Between the organic friendships and normalcy of appearing in different cities in the franchise, it would not be abnormal to see Dolores as a part of RHORI. For fans, it will be exciting to potentially see Dolores in a new environment with those outside of her own cast.
