During The Pitt’s first season, the hit TV show was applauded as possibly the greatest medical show ever produced. Some reasons for that include the show featuring positive male role models, its cast caring enough to be trained by real hospital workers, and it reflecting the reality of the medical profession. The Pitt was also such a beautifully produced show that its finale mirrored its premiere and the show changed Noah Wyle’s life while making him rich.
Since The Pitt was such a success that plans for its second season quickly began, many cast members will be returning. With that in mind, it is interesting to know that Shawn Hatosy thinks that his character, Dr. Jack Abbot, wants to get involved with one of his co-workers because of a deleted scene.
The Pitt’s Shawn Hatosy Revealed Why A Deleted Made Him Think His Character Has An Inappropriate Crush
By the time the first season of The Pitt finished airing, the show’s millions of devoted fans had become invested in a long list of characters. One of those characters that many fans cared about more than the rest was Shawn Hatosy’s Dr. Jack Abbott.
The fact that fans grew to have such strong feelings about Dr. Abbott is incredible given that the character only appeared in five episodes. After being a part of the premiere, Dr. Abbott didn’t show up again until the 12th episode, and then he stuck around for a four-episode run.
As it turns out, fans almost saw a little more of Dr. Abbott since a moment focused on him was deleted from the show’s first episode. While talking about that, Shawn revealed why he thought the deleted moment revealed that Dr. Abbott had an inappropriate crush.
In May 2025, Shawn spoke to Variety about his experiences filming The Pitt and his character on the show.

During that discussion, Shawn spoke to Variety about a deleted scene from The Pitt’s first episode. As Shawn explained to the outlet, his character stood up for Supriya Ganesh’s Dr. Samira Mohan when she was being criticized.
There’s one line in the first episode that got cut, where somebody makes a comment that she’s slow, and I say, ‘She’s the smartest person here.’
After describing that moment to Variety, Shawn told the outlet what that line of dialogue meant to him.

The Pitt Fans Realize One Of Their Favorite Characters Is Played By A Nepo Baby
The Pitt fans have slowly grown to realize that one of the show’s best characters is portrayed by a nepo baby.
When famous actors talk about their craft, many of them will discuss how they envisioned their own character. For example, some actors will discuss backstories that they made up for their characters that weren’t hinted at onscreen.
Even though it is The Pitt that made Supriya Ganesh famous, her IMDb page shows that she has already been a working actor for several years. According to the website, Supriya made her television debut when she appeared in an episode of Blue Bloods in 2018.
While talking to Variety, Shawn revealed that he believes his character has a crush on Dr. Mohan based on that deleted comment.
“And just from that, I feel like it was definitely, in my opinion, heading in a direction. I think he likes her, if I’m being honest, only because of what I read. He has admiration for her brain, there’s something there. When you’re working closely with somebody that can evolve. So I think there’s a flirtation.”
After Shawn told Variety that he believes his The Pitt character has a crush on Dr. Mohan, he brought up the implications of that.
Even though The Pitt’s Dr. Samira Mohan and Dr. Jack Abbott dating would be inappropriate, there are still fans who are rooting for the characters to get involved. In April 2025, a Collider article that was written by Kelcie Mattson argued that it would be great if Dr. Mohan and Dr. Abbott’s storyline was similar to what fans see on Grey’s Anatomy.
Without prompting from Variety, Shawn pointed out that Dr. Abbott pursuing Dr. Mohan would be inappropriate for a specific reason.
I don’t want to sound creepy when I say it because he’s in the power position.
In addition to Shawn’s comments about the power position, many people would argue the characters getting involved would be inappropriate for another reason.

The Pitt’s Creator Revealed Two Canceled Storylines That Might Return For Season 2
The Pitt’s creator revealed what the two canceled storylines from the show’s first season were that could return during Season 2.
According to Famous Birthdays, Shawn Hatosy was born on December 29th, 1975 in Frederick, Maryland. That would mean that, as of May 2025, Shawn is 49 years old.
According to Wikipedia, Supriya Ganesh was born on December 16th, 1997 in the United States. That would mean that, as of May 2025, Supriya is 27 years old.
Assuming that the two actors’ The Pitt characters are the same ages as they are, that would make Dr. Abbott more than 20 years older than Dr. Mohan.
Between the authority Dr. Abbott has over Dr. Mohan and their age difference, any romance between them would clearly be inappropriate.

The Pitt’s Final Moments Featured A Very Revealing Line Of Dialogue Fans Are Overlooking
The final moments of The Pitt’s Season 1 finale included a revealing line of dialogue that most fans seem to be overlooking.
During one of The Pitt’s later episodes, Dr. Abbott convinced Dr. Mohan to perform a risky procedure she wasn’t qualified to do. After things went well, Dr. Abbott encouraged Dr. Mohan to take credit for what she’d pulled off. After Dr. Mohan looked pleased by Dr. Abbott’s support, his character told her that the procedure was so risky he wouldn’t have done it.
While talking to Decider about that scene, Shawn spoke about why Dr. Abbott decided to push Dr. Mohan to complete the procedure in that moment.
“There’s been talk of her history being too slow, this kind of thing. I think it’s just a way for him to push her into a situation where she might not be comfortable in, but he knows she can do it.”
More notably, Shawn then expressed his opinion to Decider that he believed that moment also reflected Dr. Abbott’s crush on Dr. Mohan.
“It’s almost this weird — I love the scene, and I don’t mean it in, like, a creepy way, but it’s just a sort of a flirtation because of this respect that he has for her.”
Based on Shawn’s comments about Dr. Abbott and Dr. Mohan, it will be interesting to see any interactions they may have during The Pitt Season 2.
