- The decision was influenced by financial concerns related to the skits.
- The character’s portrayal negatively impacted public perception of her appearance.

Popular Nigerian skit maker and content creator Chinonso Ukah, better known by her stage name Nons Miraj, has spoken openly about why she decided to stop producing her viral “witch” skits that once dominated her content.
In a recent interview with fellow creator Egungun of Lagos, Nons Miraj explained that the decision was influenced by both financial concerns and the way the character affected public perception of her appearance.
“I stopped creating witch content because it wasn’t giving me enough money, and people were thinking I was old,” Nons Miraj said.
The character, often portrayed in heavy makeup and elaborate costumes to mimic a traditional witch figure, had become one of her trademarks. However, over time, she noticed that the role was starting to have unintended consequences. She revealed that the older-looking costume made people believe she was older than her actual age, which negatively impacted her image.
Additionally, despite the character’s popularity, the skits were not as profitable as expected. Nons Miraj said that the revenue generated from them didn’t justify the time and effort she was putting in, prompting her to reevaluate her creative direction.
Now focused on other styles of content, she continues to entertain her fans with fresh material while being more strategic about how it aligns with her brand and personal goals.
