Mother Of Late Augusta Mourns Daughter 22 Months After Tragic Death

  • Mrs. Cordelia Okonye is mourning her daughter, nearly 22 months after her death.
  • Augusta was killed in 2023 by her boyfriend, Benjamin Best, also known as Killaboi, who confessed to the crime.
  • After confessing, Killaboi fled the country and evaded justice for several months.

Mrs. Cordelia Okonye, the grieving mother of the late Augusta Onuwabhagbe, is still mourning her daughter’s untimely death, nearly 22 months after the tragic event.

Augusta’s death in 2023 came after her boyfriend, Benjamin Best, also known as Killaboi, admitted to taking her life. Despite his confession, Killaboi fled the country, evading justice for several months. However, his capture came in October 2023 when he was apprehended in Sierra Leone.

In a significant breakthrough, Nigerian authorities, working with INTERPOL and Qatari officials, successfully facilitated Killaboi’s extradition in April 2025, bringing him back to Nigeria to face charges for Augusta’s murder.

Mrs. Okonye, in her ongoing grief, expressed the profound pain of losing her daughter, asserting that she believes her daughter’s killer should face the ultimate consequence for his actions, hoping that justice will bring some closure to her family.

She wrote …

“22 months today Benjamin killed you. You are still fighting because you said that if anyone kill you, you will kill your own back. He must join you my baby.”
