A video has emerged showing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu struggling to walk during the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
In the video, Tinubu is seen being supported and held by his son, Seyi Tinubu, as they moved through the venue.
The event took place last Sunday and was attended by several world leaders. President Tinubu was present at the ceremony and also had a short meeting with the new Pope.
He also held a private audience with members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, including its President, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, Bishop of Owerri. In his remarks, Tinubu urged Nigerians, particularly spiritual leaders, to embrace the country’s religious and cultural diversity as a unifying force.
“Let us turn our differences into a strength for building a prosperous and peaceful nation,” the President was quoted as saying.
However, a clip from the sidelines of the ceremony has since gone viral, capturing the moment the President relied on his son for support.
The footage is believed to have been recorded by an attendee.
President Tinubu, known to be 73 years old, recently received wide support from party members who encouraged him to run for a second term in 2027.
