Hulu’s big breakout reality TV show is back for its second season. That’s right, we’re just weeks away from tuning into Season 2 of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives.
This past week, Hulu dropped a trailer teasing all the drama that’s set to come in the new season. After the founders of #MomTok made such a splash, will their friendships be able to survive the infamy that their group has created?
#MomTok Is At Risk In Season 2
In the trailer for Season 2 of the show, which can be seen on YouTube, the young Mormon mothers behind the social media group known as #MomTok reflect on how much Season 1 blew up. Many of them note that they weren’t expecting this kind of reception, as now #MomTok is like a national phenomenon.
The caption for the trailer teases the premise that we’ll be following for Season 2:
The scandalous world of Mormon #MomTok is back and bigger than ever! When an original swinger from their infamous sex scandal makes a surprise return, friendships threaten to unravel as secrets, lies, and allegations explode. In a battle for the soul of #MomTok, will betrayal shatter the sisterhood, or will the truth set them free?
Indeed, it seems that the explosion of fame is putting the entire group at risk. In the voiceover of the trailer, some of the women discuss how challenging it’s been to have their families thrust into the spotlight more than ever before. “I never imagined things to blow up like this,” one of the cast members, Mayci Neeley, notes. “But it’s a double-edged sword. You’re opening up yourself and your family to all kinds of drama,” she adds.

No doubt one of the storylines we’ll be following is that of the women’s marriages. Throughout the first season, there was more than one rocky relationship in the group. One of the lead cast members, Taylor, was going through her own drama when she divorced her husband and got pregnant out of wedlock with her new boyfriend, Dakota. Viewers of the show will recall how rocky her dynamic with Dakota was, and the two continued to fight all the way up until her due date.
Though her parents didn’t approve of Dakota, especially since she didn’t have any intention of getting married again, the two decided to stay together throughout the birth. That said, it’s since been reported that Taylor and Dakota have broken up, calling it quits shortly after filming for Season 1 ended. From what we see in the trailer, it seems like things are still complicated; in one clip, Taylor is seen saying things continue to get worse with Dakota, and that she worries about Dakota’s sobriety on top of everything else.

The #MomTok influencers are back with new drama and new pregnancies.
Another tense relationship from Season 1 was that of Jen Affleck and her husband Zac. Many fans grew to disapprove of Zac, who was both financially dependent on Jen’s work as a social media influencer but also ironically judgmental of it. At the end of Season 1, he appeared to make the executive decision to move their family to New York, despite Jen saying that her influencing work was largely reliant upon being with the #MomTok group in Utah.
In a clip from the Season 2 trailer, it seems that Zac might be trying to work his way back into Jen’s good graces. As he sits across from her, sporting a new, cropped haircut, he asks, “Can I have a hug?” to which Jen responds, “You can have a handshake.”
Whitney Is Back—As Is An Old Ghost
Another huge question looming over Season 2 is whether Whitney Leavitt will be returning to the cast. Largely portrayed as the villain in Season 1, Whitney created a rift within the friend group and ended the season threatening to leave altogether. When it comes to Season 2, however, it seems that she’s prepared to return. When one of the other cast members jokingly says they don’t want to let the “devil” back into the group, referring to Whitney, she cheekily responds that everyone just needs to “take the sticks out of their a****.”
There will also be a new face joining for Season 2 who is apparently an old member of the #MomTok group. Miranda McWhorter, who is Taylor’s ex-best friend, is allegedly joining the show to spill all of the secrets that started off the drama in the first place. In the trailer, Miranda is seen walking in slow-motion, returning to Utah in a mini-skirt and cowboy hat, sharing her intentions in a voiceover:

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continues to explore the dynamics of the women of MomTok and their husbands. Here’s more about the Afflecks.
“It’s going to get messy. For sure,” Taylor says. “I think this is going to be a little intense,” Jessi adds. Though we don’t actually get to see Miranda revealing her secrets, we do get a taste of some of the fallout: one of the men confronts Taylor for talking about the swinging scandal on social media, and two other men get up in each other’s faces, with one of them threatening, “Hey, don’t touch my wife.” Towards the end of the teaser, we even see the cops being called, and some police officers show up at the party where all of the group is mingling.
It seems that Season 2 is shaping up to show us the fate of #MomTok once and for all. “It’s going to destroy the group as a whole,” says a voice in the trailer, though we’re unsure as to what, exactly, “it” refers to. Luckily, fans of the show won’t have to wait much longer to see the drama unfold, as the official air date for Season 2 is Thursday, May 15th. All episodes from Season 1 can currently be streamed on Hulu.
