Boston Blue's Recent Casting News Makes The Show Much More Exciting

Throughout the history of Blue Bloods, fans of that TV show were so dedicated that it aired a truly impressive 14 seasons. Similar to the fans who wanted to know why Jennifer Esposito left Blue Bloods, that show’s cast was very dedicated. To prove that point, all anyone has to do is look at the fact that Tom Selleck was willing to cut his iconic mustache for Blue Bloods. Since the Blue Bloods cast cared so much, it was really important that the spin-off show, Boston Blue, has similarly great stars.

When Boston Blue was announced, fans quickly learned that Donnie Wahlberg would continue to play his Blue Bloods character on the show. However, at that time, nobody knew who else would star in the spin-off. Fortunately for fans, however, one recent casting announcement should make them very excited.

Blue Bloods Fans Should Be Excited That Boston Blue Cast Sonequa Martin-Green In A Lead Role

Throughout the history of television, there has been a seemingly endless list of spin-offs that completely flopped. While there are many reasons why a spin-off can fail, there is one problem that many of those shows have in common.

When a show is a big enough success to spawn a spin-off, it will almost certainly have many characters that viewers love. However, many past spin-offs have had only one character that fans cared about that is surrounded by others that viewers didn’t connect with.

With that in mind, it should be clear to everyone that Boston Blue absolutely needed to cast stellar actors to work with Donnie Wahlberg. Fortunately for fans and everyone involved, fans can celebrate the news that Boston Blue has added Sonequa Martin-Green to the show’s cast.

In May 2025, Variety published an article focused on Sonequa Martin-Green joining the cast of Boston Blue.

In the modern television landscape, it seems very clear that the networks are trying very hard to limit the amount of money they invest in shows.
