In May 2025, Variety published an article focused on Sonequa Martin-Green joining the cast of Boston Blue.

That article revealed that Sonequa’s Boston Blue casting was announced at a press event focused on CBS’ 2025-2026 television schedule that was held in Los Angeles.

Variety’s article also revealed that at the press event, Sonequa spoke about joining the cast of Boston Blue.

According to Famous Birthdays, Sonequa Martin-Green was born on March 21st, 1985 in Russelville, Alabama. That means that as of the time that Sonequa’s Boston Blue casting was announced, she was 40 years old.

While speaking at the event, Sonequa made it very clear that she was very excited to join the cast of Boston Blue.

It means a lot, and I’m grateful for it. I think we’re going to have a good time.

At that event, Sonequa wasn’t the only one who spoke about the fact that she’d been cast in Boston Blue. Instead, Sonequa’s new co-star, Donnie Wahlberg also welcomed her into the Blue Bloods franchise family.

At the event, Donnie made an emphatic statement about how important Sonequa’s casting is to Boston Blue.

[Sonequa Martin-Green was] not the first choice, [she was] the only choice.

After that press event, Sonequa continued to publicly express how excited she was to join Boston Blue’s cast.

In May 2025, Sonequa also posted an image of herself with Donnie at the aforementioned press event on her Instagram account. Alongside that image, Sonequa included a caption about how excited she was to be hired as one of the stars of Boston Blue.

In addition to writing on Instagram about what starring in Boston Blue means to her, Sonequa’s caption ended with a seemingly important message. The last part of Sonequa was directed at Donnie, who she seemingly plans to work hard with.
