R. Kelly has been staying busy behind bars and says that he’s written 25 albums in prison.
The disgraced singer is currently serving a 30-year sentence for federal racketeering and sex trafficking convictions plus 20 concurrent years in Chicago for his federal sex crimes case.
In the interview, Kelly said that “singing is a beautiful disease that’s incurable.”
The Chicago artist continued, “I’ve written like 25 albums since I’ve been in here, and right now, I’m just working on getting out and getting back to what it is God gave me my talent to do.”
Kelly has always denied the allegations against him even after being found guilty. Last year, his daughter, Buku Abi, accused him of abusing her as a child.
Speaking to TMZ, his attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, says the star is still fighting for his freedom.
“I just visited with him yesterday and he was in good spirits,” Jennifer she told the outlet, adding that Kelly “is not a broken man, and no one should count him out. Our appeals process has not come to an end. We will continue to fight for justice and for his freedom.”
