Kim Kardashian has always mastered the art of keeping all eyes on her. With summer soon approaching, the reality TV star launched a new collection of swimwear for her Skims brand. In a new ad for the collection, which obviously features Kim as its model, she’s seen posing rather seductively in animal print and bright-color bikinis and one-pieces on a secluded beach.
But having bikini-clad photos of herself for her latest Skims swimwear collection was not enough for the mom of four. No, Kim needed to take it to the next level with her marketing team displaying a 60-foot installation of The Kardashians star in one of her newest bikinis right in the middle of a busy Times Square.
Unfortunately, Kim is facing a bit of backlash for the bikini installation. In fact, some are comparing the enormous balloon to a sex toy.

Kim Kardashian took marketing to a new level when promoting her newest Skims swim collection. On March 4th, the reality star revealed her latest swimwear collection for her shapewear brand that featured both bikinis and one-pieces on Instagram. But, her sultry photos weren’t enough to get people talking.
The following day, Kim and Skims took to Times Square, in New York City, to promote the newest collection with a 60-foot balloon installation that featured Kim wearing a Skims swim bikini. Like her photos, the “Kim balloon” wears one of her newest bikinis, which is the Signature Swim Triangle Bikini Top and matching Signature Swim Tanga Bikini Bottom in the color Tide.
The enormous balloon, which sits on a 4-foot deck, sees Kim lying down and covering her face. She wears a Skims silver necklace while she also dons a mauve lip color. In fact, the balloon also showcases Kim’s famous curves popping out of her bikini, much like her photo shoot for the newest swim launch, which was photographed in the Bahamas.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the 60-foot installation is executive produced by Amy Kule of Merry Wonderer. Amy works as the group vice president for the Macy’s Parade, which is known for its collection of balloons during the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Her website states that she also works for Yeezy.
Kim’s newest swimwear collection features a variety of new bold prints and bright colors. In a statement about her new line, the star shared:
“I absolutely love how this collection has something for everyone — whether you’re on vacation or at the beach, it’s all about feeling confident and amazing in what you wear.”

Although Kim might find a gigantic balloon version of herself cool, it hasn’t gotten the same love. People have found it offensive, while others insist that it promotes an unhealthy representation of what a woman’s body should look like.
Kim, with over 350 million Instagram followers, should know by now that she and her famous family wield a huge influence on young women, yet they’ve been relentlessly criticized for promoting unattainable beauty standards.
On the Skims Instagram page, which shared photos of the 60-foot bikini-wearing Kim, there were several similar comments like this one:
“Such an unrealistic representation of a women’s body.”
Others read, “An we wonder why so many have body [dysmorphia] this is a unrealistic body goal that so many girls believe they should look like.”
“This is not it sis, I love the brand but the toxicity of your perpetual ideal of the female body is so icky and makes the normal person sad.”
In a Reddit thread that discusses The Kardashians star’s new Times Square installation, most users agreed that it was not the right move.
“Usually the Skims marketing department does not miss but I don’t know about this one,” a comment read. “Yea this looks so cheap,” another person wrote. “Byeee this looks weird af.”
“Ugh even inflatables have to have unrealistic bodies 😭”
In fact, others also agreed that the 60-foot balloon resembled a sex toy. (Maybe Khloé Kardashian’s ex, Lamar Odom, had some say in it…)
“It really is giving blow up doll, that’s the first thing I thought. Well, the second thing. The first was that I think there’s a bakery around this spot with yummy cupcakes, and I can’t imagine walking past this display to buy myself a cupcake,” a Reddit user wrote.
“What the f***, this blowup doll s*** is awful,” a comment said. “So a literal blow up doll….,” another person shared.

In November 2024, former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom admitted on the We’re Out of Time with Richard Taite podcast that he acquired a life-sized blow-up doll to resemble Khloé. In fact, Lamar explained that he had the doll made for his “mental health.”
Khloé and Lamar were married from 2009-2016.
“Like, when you’re really thinking about it, like a doll. But then you think about, like…mental health. And how important that is, not just in today’s time, but, you know, from the beginning of time,” he tells the host. When Taite questioned how that that justifies his mental health, Lamar answered, “For me, it would be. Yeah. For me, it would be. I mean, it’s sick, but I think we’re all a little off, a little weird.”
In his interview, Lamar also shared that he no longer speaks to Khloé. However, in The Kardashians Season 6, Episode 1, fans see Khloé meeting up with Lamar for the first time in 9 years.
“I don’t have bad blood. I don’t have any blood. Like, there’s no feelings. I want him to have him stuff. ‘This is yours,” and that’s it. I wish I didn’t have to have a conversation,” the reality star admits.
Lamar was very nervous to see his ex-wife, but according to Khloé, she needed closure. She did not bring up Lamar’s blow-up doll, however.
