Nigerian-American actress Ayo Edebiri has disclosed that she received “insane death threats” linked to billionaire businessman Elon Musk.
She reported an influx of death threats and racial slurs following Musk’s dissemination of a fabricated article in February 2024, which suggested that Disney was contemplating her as a successor to Johnny Depp in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ series.
In response to the article, Musk commented, “Disney sucks.”
Edebiri contends that Musk’s reaction amplified the false report, resulting in the subsequent threats and racial abuse directed at her.
On her Instagram story, she wrote, “Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man. LMAO. So not only is he [Elon Musk] double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”
In other news, Sophia Momodu, the first mother of music artist Davido’s child, has expressed her discontent towards a Snapchat user who labeled her daughter as insecure.
After sharing playful videos featuring herself and her daughter on Snapchat, a follower questioned why Imade does not smile and laugh more openly. The user suggested that Imade might feel insecure about her teeth, despite acknowledging their beauty.
“Why doesn’t she smile and laugh freely? It seems she is insecure about her teeth. If my guess is right, she doesn’t have to be. She has a beautiful set of teeth”.
In her response, Sophia emphasized that her daughter, Imade Adeleke, possesses more confidence than many of her detractors. She urged the user to refrain from making insincere comments and projections, explaining that she prefers to share content on her private Snapchat due to the negativity she encounters.
“Honestly, this is why I put more on my private snap, which has zero Nigerians on there. Y’all are constantly projecting or talking smack about a child. It’s irritating.
