Where Does RHOC's Tamra Judge Stand With Her Daughter Sidney Now?

The Real Housewives Of Orange County star Tamra Judge has had a rocky relationship with her daughter Sidney Barney. Tamra shares daughters Sidney and Sophia Barney as well as a son, Spencer Barney, with her ex-husband, Simon Barney.

Due to her divorce from Simon, Tamra and her daughter have had a tough relationship at times, which has been documented over the years on RHOC. In June 2023, after returning to RHOC for Season 17, she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she and Sidney were now in a good place.

How Tamra Judge’s Split From Simon Barney Caused A Rift With Sidney

During the Season 11 reunion, Tamra Judge tearfully told host Andy Cohen that her daughter, Sidney Barney, chose her father’s side after the pair divorced, which started many years of estrangement between the pair.

“My oldest daughter, Sidney, said, ‘I don’t want to live with you anymore. You’ve ruined my dad’s life,’” she explained on The Real Housewives of Orange County before adding that her daughter had not come back to live with her, at that point. She explained how her daughter was doing “amazing” in the film industry.

Back in the Season 10 reunion, Tamra told her castmates about the situation with her children. “Spencer lives with me full time, Sidney lives with her dad full time, and it’s actually a heartbreaking situation because he doesn’t talk to his father, and Sidney doesn’t talk to me,” Tamra explained.

Tamra openly spoke on Watch What Happens Live in 2015, as reported by PEOPLE, about her then-therapist diagnosing Sidney at 16 with “parental alienation,” when a child rejects the parent they are not living with.

Simon was unhappy with Tamra’s comments, telling PEOPLE, “Not only does my daughter have to read and hear about what her mother says about her father on the Internet and various talk shows, she is forced to relive it over and over from her friends and classmates.”

A resurfaced post, reported by Distractify, from Sidney shed light on why she became estranged from her mother. She accuses her mother of being “neglectful” and “abusive.” She said their estrangement was not just because of her parent’s divorce, but Tamra’s “toxic” behavior was reportedly more of an issue.

“I want to start by clearing some things up as my mother continues to talk about me despite me requesting her to stop speaking of me [publicly] as I don’t want to be associated with her or the show,” Sidney explained.

The reasons I left my mother’s house are that she was neglectful (leaving us at home with no food or simply ignoring us entirely), she constantly put herself first and the biggest reason was that she was mentally and emotionally abusive. She was no mother to me.

Vicki Gunvalson Weighed In On Tamra Judge’s Relationship With Her Daughter

Former friends Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge have had a very public fallout on The Real Housewives of Orange County. The pair fell out over fellow Housewife’s Shannon Beador’s drinking, according to Page Six, and her stance on Alexis Bellino’s newly-formed relationship with Shannon’s ex, John Janssen.

• Vicki didn’t hold back commenting on Tamra and Sidney’s complicated history.

“If my daughter didn’t talk to me, I’d be on a flipping plane right now, knocking on her door, begging her for forgiveness, and I don’t even care what I did,” Vicki said on a September 2024 episode of the My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast.

Sidney has a very strong opinion of Tamra. ‘Stop embarrassing the family. Stop doing what you’re doing. Get off the show when you have a chance.’ Tamra did none of that.

Vicki added that when her co-star was “Off [the show] for two years,” she “never connected” with Sidney. Vicki gave Tamra a “pretty simple” solution to the issue. “Get off the show and reconcile with your daughter,” she explained.

“I don’t get how she cries on TV. And Sidney said, ‘Please don’t mention me. Please don’t do this,’ and the next thing you know, she’s bawling. She could turn on the waterworks like that. Anyway, that is a character issue and something that’s freaking weird.”

Tamra soon hit back at Vicki’s comments. She admitted she was in “such disbelief this woman would go so low” in making remarks about their family situation.

According to Reality Blurb, Tamra called her former co-star “disgusting” for gunning against her family, before claiming the reality star was looking for “attention.” She told Vikki to “go away” as “nobody cares what you have to say.”

What Does Tamra Judge And Sidney Barney’s Relationship Look Like Now?

While Tamra and Sidney remain estranged as of this article’s publishing, the Bravo star has told the press that their relationship is in a better place.

In the Season 18 premiere of RHOC, Tamra got a tattoo of the angel number 111. “Every time I see 111, I always make the same wish that … maybe one day Sidney will come home,” she told her daughter Sophia, who admitted she was not comfortable talking about her sister on TV.

The Vena CBD co-founder told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast in July 2024, “She is reaching out to her brother and sister now, so that’s good news. So we do have some progress.”

The mother and daughter briefly reunited in June 2023 when they both attended Sophia’s graduation, but this is thought to be the last time they saw each other. “Unfortunately, Sidney’s on Simon’s side. She doesn’t really speak to any of us. It’s difficult. It’s like your child’s dead, but they’re still alive,” Tamra explained on the RHOC Season 18 premiere in July (via Page Six).
