Kano Governor’s Adviser Dies One Day After Swearing-In

The spokesperson to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the passing of Bunkure in Egypt in a statement released today January 8.

The Kano State Government is in mourning following the sudden passing of Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkure, the newly appointed Special Adviser on Works to Governor Abba Yusuf.

His death occurred just 24 hours after his swearing-in.

The spokesperson to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the passing of Bunkure in Egypt in a statement released today January 8.

Bunkure was amongst the newly appointed aides and commissioners sworn in by Governor Yusuf on Monday, 6th January, 2025.

Governor Yusuf, in his condolence message, described the late adviser as a committed professional whose expertise was expected to contribute significantly to the administration’s development agenda.



“This is a heartbreaking moment for us as a government. Engr. Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose expertise and contributions were expected to drive our administration’s vision for development. His loss is deeply felt,”
the governor said.
