The FCT Police Commamd have arrested 348 for involvement in various criminal activities, seized 10 trucks loaded with vandalised metals, 26 manhole covers, 20 solar/streetlight poles, large quantities of AEDC armored cables, substantial quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted hard drugs, as well as recovered 11 firearms.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, SP Josephine Adeh, in a press statement, Tuesday in Abuja, nited that, “As part of its unwavering efforts to combat criminal activities and protect public and private infrastructure within the FCT, the Police Command has carried out a series of strategic raids targeting identified black-spots across the territory.
According to the spokesperson, massive successes were achieved through daily raids, even as the sustained efforts of the Command have yielded remarkable results, including: “348 suspects arrested for various criminal activities; 320 suspects prosecuted and charged to court; seizure of 10 trucks loaded with vandalised metals, disrupting the market for stolen items; recovery of 26 manhole covers and 20 solar/streetlight poles, ensuring the restoration of critical public infrastructure.
“Confiscation of large quantities of AEDC armored cables, preventing further vandalism; seizure of substantial quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted hard drugs, reducing drug-related crimes; recovery of 11 firearms, eliminating dangerous weapons from circulation.
“These successes underscore the importance of sustained raids in creating a crime-free and secure environment for all FCT residents
On why Police carried out daily raids, Adeh said they were critical to maintaining law and order in the FCT, adding that the proactive operations were aimed at preventing crime; targeting criminal black spots to prevent crimes before they occur; protecting infrastructure; curtailing drug abuse and trafficking; enforcing the law by demonstrating the police’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring criminals are held accountable.
She listed the black spots raided.
The Command identified and raided to include: Apo-Dutse Panteka, Diplomatic Zone, New PDP Secretariat, Kabusa Panteka, Ajakaita (Tungan-Maje), Abuja-Kaduna Road, and Jabi Panteka.
Others are: Apo-Waru Panteka, Area 1 (Monkey Village), Durumi Village, Gwarimpa, Angwan Tiv, Mpape (Mashafa and Shishinpe Villages), Durumi III (Burukutu Garden), Mabushi (Gishiri Village), Kubwa (by Pipeline and NEPA Road), and Maitama (under the Transcorp Bridge).
The spokesperson assured that the FCT Police Command remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
