Bachelor In Paradise Gets A New Showrunner

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise after a very long hiatus. Season 9 premiered in September 2023, but it appears that the long wait had a lot to do with major changes coming into the new season.

In July 2024, ABC announced that The Bachelor spinoff would be returning later this year. Bachelor and The Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer also teased fans that they can expect to see new things happening on the beach in Season 10. With a new showrunner, familiar with competition-type reality TV shows, will fans see contestants falling in love and competing in Bachelor-styled games?

Bachelor In Paradise Has A New Showrunner Who Has Executive Produced Shows Like Claim To Fame

Now that it’s been confirmed that Bachelor in Paradise will be returning later this year, more information is coming out about what fans can expect. In January, Deadline announced that there would be a new showrunner, which means this season of BiP could be completely different from anything we’ve seen before.

According to the outlet, executive producer Scott Teti is believed to be the new showrunner for Season 10 of BiP. Scott is most known for executive producing ABC’s reality series Claim to Fame and Bravo’s Summer House.

With Scott having experience producing a competition reality TV show like Claim to Fame, which sees relatives of famous family members trying to conceal their identities to win a cash prize, and Summer House, which is jam-packed full of relationship drama, he seems like the perfect fit for Bachelor in Paradise.

Does this mean that the new season will see more fun-filled challenges rather than contestants just hanging around the beach all day?

In July 2024, the Bachelor in Paradise Instagram shared an image of the year “2025” written in the sand with the caption, “We’re heading back to the beach in 2025! 🌴.” It’s now been over a year since fans watched former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants meet on the beach for a second chance at love.

The comment section was filled with Bachelor Nation fans thrilled with the news that BiP is returning. “THANK GOODNESS,” a follower wrote, while another comment read, “THIS IS THE BEST DECISION BACH NATION HAS EVER MADE.”

However, fans weren’t left without any Bachelor franchise shows after BiP Season 9’s conclusion in December 2024. While the show was on a hiatus, fans got to see the first-ever season of The Golden Bacherlorette, where Joan Vassos found love with Chock Chapple; The Bachelor Season 28, where Joey Graziadei proposed to Kelsey Anderson; and Season 21’s The Bachelorette, in which Jenn Tran got her heart broken by reality TV villain Devin Strader.

In January, Bachelor franchise host Jesse Palmer spoke to Swoon where he shared that he was excited to be back on the beach with brand-new contestants hoping for a second chance at love. Jesse also told the outlet that he is “expecting some changes” with Season 10, but appeared to not know what these exact changes would be.

“I am supposed to be talking with some people about it pretty soon, but I’m so excited,” he told Swoon about the new season. “I am expecting some changes. I don’t know what those changes are going to necessarily be.”

Jesse stated that he had his “hopes” about the particular changes, adding, “but I’m just really excited to get back to the beach personally, and to see our lovely cast, and to hopefully see some people fall in love and get engaged and to be back with [bartender] Wells [Adams].”

According to Swoon, fan-favorite Maria Georgas will not be a cast member in BiP Season 10.

While the cast of Season 10 of BiP is not yet known as of this writing, two men from Season 21 of The Bachelorette, which featured Jenn Tran as the lead, are said to be cast members.

During the Season 21 Men Tell All episode, Jesse invited Jonathan Johnson and Hakeem Moulton to join Season 10 of BiP.

Speaking to Jonathan, Jesse shared, “You are a great guy, and you deserve to find love. Assuming you’re still single … there’s a certain beach that’s going to be opening next summer. So I would hereby like to officially extend to you the very first invite to the beach. What do you say?” Jonathan gladly accepted.

Fans Are Hoping That BiP Will Have A Similar Style To Love Island

Fans Want To See More Excitement Among The Cast Members

With the news that there is a new showrunner for Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise, with a lot of experience with competition-style reality TV shows, fans are hoping that the cast members will be tasked with doing more challenges and participating in exciting games to spice up the beloved series.

These same fans have expressed in a Reddit thread that the show would be a lot more entertaining if it brought in games that revolved around couples like those seen on Love Island.

“I wonder if they’ll try to make it more like love island. I could definitely see that since love island US was such a big hit last summer,” a user wrote. Another user replied to the comment with:

“I’ve been saying for years that they need to introduce games like [Love Island] or something that encourages mingling! Everyone is so scared to mingle and get to know people who are already on the beach and just wait for new people to show up so that they don’t “step on anyone’s toes”

“I hope they bring in games. Bachelor Pad was fantastic and they to bring back the competition!”

“They need more games, activities, and themed parties. The last season was so boring.”

Other fans are just excited for the new changes. “Ooh, I’m excited for some changes! It’s gotten stale in recent years, so this is a welcome sight to all of us.” While one Reddit user pointed out that they are a fan of Claim to Fame, and would love to see what Scott will do with the series.

Claim to Fame is such a great show! I have high hopes for the new BIP format!”

Bachelor in Paradise does not have a premiere date as of this writing. However, fans can watch Grant Ellis try and find love on Season 29’s The Bachelor when the show airs on ABC on January 27, at 8 p.m. ET.
