CJ Gardner-Johnson was so angry after his ejection on Sunday that he decided to go live on Instagram and vent his frustration in front of his fans. It’s not uncommon for players to lose their cool with some of the decisions made by the officials, but not everyone goes on a cursing spree.
The interesting part of the social media interaction was that Gardner-Johnson did not wait for the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders to end. Moments after the referee sent him to the locker room, the 27-year-old brought his cell phone out and began yelling.
Fu*k them refs… Them refs wanted me out of the game. I ain’t do sh*t anyway. Y’all know I ain’t do sh*t!

In the chat, one of his fans rightfully pointed out that CJ might get fined for such behavior. It’s entirely possible considering the NFL has been very ruthless in minimizing any sort of bad behavior or outburst similar to Gardner-Johnson’s.

Midway through the week 16 fixture at FedEx Field, the referee ejected CJ Gardner Johnson after he committed back-to-back unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. He even made an obscene gesture at the Commanders’ fans while making his way to the locker room.
Later, the Florida graduate left a short message on X.

These remaining fixtures are crucial for both teams. The Eagles want to keep pace with the 13-2 Detroit Lions to grab the NFC No. 1 seed while the Commanders aim to squeeze into the playoffs and possibly overtake the Eagles in their division. However, the Capital City franchise got the better of their NFC East rivals 33-36.
Pool reporter Nicki Jhabvala spoke with referee Shawn Smith and asked him about Gardner Johnson’s ejection.
He’s basically taunting the opponent on the second foul. He already had a first one earlier in the game that we had announced as his first toward disqualification. So, this became his second. He was taunting the players, so that’s a disqualification by rule.

Players should have fire in them because that’s what makes the game of football so enjoyable. At the same time, they need to pick and choose the time and place to show that fire. Such kind of behavior only puts unnecessary pressure on the team. This is where the coaches must step in and make sure to keep the players in check.
