De Norsemen KClub International (DNKI) a nongovernmental organisation has called on the Nigerian youth to work hard for their living, shun crimes and all illegitimate means of livelihood.
The president, De Norsemen KClub International, Chief Dr. Chidi Anokwu, said this at its just concluded 16th convention held in Abuja with theme: ‘The Impact of Safety and Healthy Living in the society,’ and urged youth to appreciate the dignity of honesty in labour, adding that it is the only way for Nigeria to move forward.
At the convention, no fewer than 50 members were honoured with plaques of recognition.
He said: “Nigerian youth must look beyond their present situation and invest in themselves, the society and make Nigeria a better place.
On developmental projects, he said DNKI provided street lights, building community centres and statutory projects like humanitarian projects such as water, electricity and so many things that aid life.
“Everything we do is according to what the patrols have done. We however have a minimum benchmark of what we do for every year.
“In Niger state, we assisted in releasing five people who were released but couldn’t afford the bails. Apart from paying the bills, we were able to resettle them with the cost for resettlement borne by us.
“And in other chapters, we have established some of our members, we have taken care of some widows and we have paid hospital bills like I said before.
“At every convention, we compare work done by the chapters’ presidents in view of what they have done for the year and we have a benchmark of what’s expected of every chapter president. We have a reward system where we tend to actually grade them.”
