Thwarting an apparent attempted cable theft attempt in Elardus Park, Bull Security and Lyttelton CPF Sector 4 (LS4) caught a suspect in the act on Tuesday.
The arrest came at 01:00 on Tuesday, December 24, while LS4 was conducting patrols in the area.
Bull Security relayed information to the patrollers about a new cable theft hotspot on Nieuwenhuyzen Street.
LS4 and Bull Security teams proceeded to the location to investigate and soon after that three suspects were seen fleeing the scene.
“Upon searching the area, three males started running away. A foot chase towards Boeing Road ensued. The suspects jumped over a fence LS4 drove around to search the road. While searching, one suspect jumped up and ran towards Solomon Mahlangu Drive. Another foot chase ensued. One of Bull Security’s ROs managed to detain the suspect,” said Bull Security Operations Manager, French Jooste.
A patroller monitoring the cameras in Hofet Street noticed another two suspects entering the area.
SAPS Lyttelton, LS4 patrollers, Bull security and Fidelity ADT all patrolled the area looking for the remaining suspects.
According to Jooste, the suspects stole a bicycle in Pewter Street, with Bull, Brinant Group, FADT, SAPS and LS4 chasing the suspects, who then dropped the bicycle.
They were chased through the veld down De Villebois Mareuil Drive on foot where they managed to escape.
The apprehended suspect was handed over to the Lyttelton Police.
Residents with any information about the suspects who had avoided capture are urged to inform their local authorities.
