The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed has affirmed that the youth mobilisation process is a very critical component of the service year, and deserves all seriousness it is given, noting: “The youths are looking up to us, and we cannot afford to fail them.”
General Ahmed stated this at the 2024 NYSC Batch ‘C’ Pre – Mobilisation Workshop held at the Evelyn Event and Recreational Centre, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Tuesday, with the theme: “Strengthening the NYSC Mobilisation Process for Effective Service Delivery.”
The DG appreciated all invited personalities as well as workshop participants for identifying with the ideals of the noble scheme, saying, “Over the years of its existence, the NYSC has been in the vanguard of nation building, fostering unity among the different nationalities of Nigeria as well as playing critical roles in national development.”
According to General Ahmed, “the place of effective service delivery in a successful mobilisation process cannot be overemphasised. I urge us to put on our thinking caps to proffer solutions to observed challenges.”

He expressed management’s commitment to ensuring that the right things are done at all times from the beginning to the end of the mobilisation process and urged everyone to stand by approved standards as well as render service with integrity, transparency and compassion.
The director, corps mobilisation, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, thanked the NYSC DG for making it possible for the workshop to hold.
Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, represented by Barrister Gregory Zi, pledged that his ministry will provide the scheme with the necessary tools to serve the nation.
