Over the years, the boxing community has experienced numerous developments. This has led to various changes, including the rise and fall of many billionaires-turned-promoters. Recently, boxing legend Mike Tyson shared his thoughts on this issue, clearly stating the reasons behind the frequent failures of promoters in the sport.

‘Iron Mike’ recently appeared on the popular Pound 4 Pound podcast, where he explored a range of intriguing topics. During the conversation, Mike Tyson expressed dissatisfaction with how poorly most promoters manage the boxing scene, with only a few exceptions. Moreover, Tyson mentioned that this mismanagement is one of the reasons many billionaires lose their wealth after entering the boxing world.

The boxing business turns billionaires into poor men… They make fun, they make fools out of billionaires. Can you come in here being I’ll check this my money, my checkbook, a check or put all this in perspective? Next thing you know, you don’t have a checkbook no more or else is very small. All those guys that were billionaire thought they could change boxing, they lead boxing with a bad taste in their mouth…

Moreover, Tyson emphasized how promoters can avoid certain mistakes in the boxing industry. He pointed out that UFC CEO Dana White could play a significant role in this process. White recently announced his intention to enter the boxing world.

Interestingly, this move has been positively received by many notable figures in the boxing community, including Tyson. The boxing legend stressed the importance of matchmakers and promoters conducting thorough analyses to identify the best potential opponents for boxers.

Moreover, Iron Mike has expressed admiration for Saudi GEA chairman Turki Alalshikh, who constantly strives to revitalize the excitement in boxing. Tyson has a great deal of respect for Alalshikh because of this. Additionally, the Saudi Delegate shares a similar appreciation for the boxing legend and recently came out to support Tyson.

Turki Alalshikh urges Mike Tyson to ‘forget the script’ in his upcoming fight

Mike Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005. Since then, he has participated in two exhibition bouts, the most recent being against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. He is preparing for another boxing match that was originally labeled as an exhibition. However, due to ongoing backlash from the community, which alleged the fight was scripted, it has since been reclassified as a pro-sanctioned match.

As such, he encouraged Tyson to disregard any script and focus on defeating his upcoming opponent, Jake Paul.

Please brother Mike. forget the script and beat this guy!
