Will the current snowfall impact Pretoria residents?

With snowfall sweeping across parts of South Africa and weather warnings in effect, Pretoria residents are wondering if they’ll get a bit of relief after soaring heatwave conditions.

While some regions brace for icy conditions, here’s what Pretoria can expect from the current cold front.

Here are all the weather warnings in place for Tuesday issued by the South African Weather Services (SAWS):

A yellow Level 2 Warning: Disruptive Snow leading to localised traffic disruptions and localised loss of livestock is expected over the Eastern Cape’s northern and central high-lying areas.

A Yellow Level 4 Warning: Disruptive Rain leading to flooding of settlements, roads, and damage to property is expected along the Wild Coast in the Eastern Cape and over the south-eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

A Yellow Level 1 Warning: Disruptive rain leading to flooding of settlements and roads and damage to property are expected in places over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.

A Yellow Level 2 Warning: Severe thunderstorms resulting in damage or loss of infrastructure, settlements, major travel disruptions, and disruptions of municipal and other essential services are expected over the highveld of Mpumalanga.

A Yellow Level 2 Warning: Damaging winds resulting in disruption of coastal activities are expected between Port Edward and Kosi Bay.

A Level 10 warning:  Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Limpopo Valley, Bushveld, and south-central parts of Limpopo, as well as the extreme eastern parts of the North West.

An advisory is in place for very cold conditions that are expected over the southwestern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The SAWS said 60% scattered rain is expected in Pretoria on Wednesday and Thursday.

• Tuesday: Max: 33° Min: 20°
• Wednesday: Max: 31° Min: 14°
• Thursday: Max: 29° Min: 14°
• Friday: Max: 29° Min: 15°
