Alec Baldwin has reportedly ended up on Hollywood’s “black list” following his Rust shooting incident that killed cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins in 2021. The tragedy has divided fans and celebrities alike. But with seven young children to support alongside the not-really-Spanish Hilaria Baldwin, the actor isn’t retiring anytime soon.
Alec recently signed up for a reality show on TLC, which would give fans an insight into his family life. But the Saturday Night Live regular doesn’t seem to be adjusting well to the demands of reality TV. Here’s how his infamous attitude problems are causing “chaos” behind the scenes.
Alec Baldwin’s “Arrogance” Is Causing Trouble In His Family Reality Show
According to an insider, Alec Baldwin was getting on everyone’s “last nerve” on the set of his family reality show, The Baldwins. They added that the 30 Rock alum was expecting to do a film-level TV show. “Alec thinks he’s filming a movie, not a cheap reality show,” they told RadarOnline in August. “He doesn’t seem to understand there is no script or lines for him to learn.”
The problem with Alec is he thinks he knows best, on everything from storylines to the camera angles to the lighting. It’s a disaster!
A different source previously claimed that Alec was asking for a $300,000 per-episode pay for the show. And that was just for him. While many people know the project will save the actor’s downfall, former TLC star, Jon Gosselin advised against Alec’s career shift. “I say don’t do it. Only because you’ve already made it,” he told Entertainment Tonight in July.

The Truth About Billy Baldwin’s Daughters Jameson And Brooks And Their Absurdly Glamorous Life
Billy Baldwin’s daughters, Jameson and Brooks, live openly in the spotlight, sharing their glamorous lives on social media and engaging with fans.
“You’re like an amazing award-winning actor,” Jon explained, adding that he only did his family show, Jon & Kate Plus 8 (2007-2009) for financial reasons. “I did it for the money in the beginning because I didn’t know how I was going to support my family. I just don’t understand. Sometimes I have regrets because they didn’t sign the contract, I signed the contract. So they didn’t have a choice.”
Alec has a 27-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from his previous marriage to actress, Kim Basinger.
But that seems to be the exact reason Alec is doing the show. It was reported that his net worth dropped from $70 million to $60 million after his shooting scandal. While it doesn’t seem much, keep in mind that he and Hilaria have seven “Baldwinitos,” all under the age of 12:
- Carmen Gabriela, 11
- Rafael Thomas, 9
- Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8
- Romeo Alejandro David, 6
- Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 4
- María Lucía Victoria, 3
- Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2
Alec And Hilaria Baldwin Announced Their Reality Show Ahead Of His Manslaughter Case Dismissal
Alec and Hilaria officially announced their reality show on Instagram back in June. “We are the Baldwins!” they said in the video. “And we’re coming to TLC! God help you all!” It was a month before Alec’s involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed. The judge didn’t declare a mistrial but threw out the case after evidence was withheld.
The state’s willful withholding of this information was intentional and deliberate. There is no way for the court to right this wrong.
Alec broke down during the monumental third day of the trial. He later thanked his supporters on Instagram, writing: “There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now. To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family.”

Here are the factors that led to the dismissal of Alec’s case (the second since the incident in 2021):
- His lawyers claimed that police and prosecutors hid a batch of bullets that were important evidence in the case.
- Alec’s lawyers also questioned the investigation process, as well as how live ammunition ended up on the movie set in the first place.
The Baldwins Will Show Alec And Hilaria’s “Messy” Big Family Life
Alec and Hilaria agreed to do the show as long as “it was an authentic portrayal of who they are as a family,” per People‘s source. The couple were “excited” about the project, with the insider adding that “the kids all have such fun personalities and Hilaria and Alec know how much interest there is in their lives.”
As the show promises to show fans a “a behind-the-scenes look at raising a big family,” the source teased that its “messy” side will definitely come out. “The best part about them is that they don’t fudge the bad — they are very honest about how messy life is, but they see it as a beautiful mess,” they explained.

How The Real Housewives Franchise Became Connected To Diddy
Since Diddy’s arrest, his connections with the reality tv world, specifically the Real Housewives, has become even more evident.
While it seems like it’s just a “fun” project for the family, a source for Radar Online claimed that Hilaria is pushing for stardom. “Hilaria’s fascinated with the spotlight and wants to turn herself and her family into superstars and not just through association with Alec.”
In April, the outlet also reported that she wanted to be part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast. “A lot of people around Alec think it’s bonkers for him to consider doing a reality show now when he’s absolutely consumed with stress and worry and financial hardships on top of everything else,” added the insider.
He’s doing the show but with a heavy heart and Hilaria’s not giving him much of an option.
Radar Online‘s sources haven’t been the most reliable. But many fans don’t trust Hilaria either, ever since her fake Spanish heritage was revealed in December 2020. She then drew more flak, seven months later, when she responded by saying: “We need to normalize the fact that we are all unique-our culture, languages, sexual orientations, religions, political beliefs are ALLOWED TO BE FLUID. No two of us are completely alike.”
