For months, Heather Dubrow has been working on her dream renovation with husband Terry. However, she’s now lost millions as the build has descended into a complete disaster.
Forget glamorous parties, The Real Housewives of Orange County star is busy working on her ideal space. Her dream home, which cost $16 million, has cost Heather Dubrow more than twice the budget and time.
Heather Dubrow builds ‘dream house’
During a first look at Part 1 of the RHOC season 18 reunion, host Andy Cohen asks Heather, “What’s happening construction-wise on the new home?” Heather declares, “Oh my god, it’s a disaster.”
While she’s been very vocal about her construction plans to create her dream house, it hasn’t exactly gone the way she planned. It’s been over a year since she and husband Terry Dubrow bought it.
Heather hasn’t only lost millions on building her dream home, but twice as much time as she’s originally bargained for. It has cost twice as much as she thought, she admitted to Cohen.
RHOC star loses millions – and time
Heather said, “You know how you and I always talk about our construction things? How it’s, like, twice the time, twice the budget? We’re sort of in that land.” At first, they bought the property for $16 million.
Their running total after factoring in their renovation would be $32 million. “This house, we’re going to take down to the studs,” Heather shared on the premiere, with “2 to 3 million” for landscaping alone.
They estimated they’ll spend “just over 2 million” on a guest house, and 1 million dollars on the movie theater, among many other changes. Over on Million Dollar Listing, Josh Altman said the “sky is the limit”.
During Season 15, Episode 8 of MDLLA, he said, “I know you like a deal, and I know that you, like me, like money. You’re going to have one of the most iconic properties in Los Angeles. Think about that.”
After submitting an offer and getting accepted, Heather declared, “I think the house has great bones, and I already have a vision for how I want to change it.” And it’s not even their only property!
Heather and Terry have another place
In 2022, nearly a year before they bought the Beverly Hills house, Heather and Terry purchased a penthouse in Los Angeles that boasts incredible views and a hidden champagne room.
Yet during the season 18 premiere, Heather explained that because the spacious penthouse apartment has “only two bedrooms,” the couple and their kids “need a family home.”
It comes after they sold their old family home for $55 million. Terry, who works as a plastic surgeon on Botched, is believed to have gone back to work to pay for the upgrades.
