Star's TV exit was 'like a break-up' – 'Felt I was giving it out without commitment'

This October Cynthia Bailey is joining a long list of Real Housewives who have gone on to launch podcasts. She and RHOBH’s Crystal Kung Minkoff are taking to the airwaves with their joint pod, Humble Brag, this spooky season. Cynthia is enjoying some more air time as she appears as a guest on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live this fall, too.

After 10 seasons on a hit reality TV show, it turns out emotions can get pretty complicated for some stars. Chatting with Jeff Lewis this October, Cynthia Bailey compares her Real Housewives Of Atlanta exit to a “break-up,” and details how she’s fitting in to the season 15 cast.

Cynthia Bailey ‘didn’t want to go back on RHOA’

When it comes to the Real Housewives, there are some real stand-out stars across the franchise.

Judging by fans’ Reddit threads and tweets, many are “ride or die” for Cynthia Bailey. She first joined RHOA in season 3 and remained a full-time cast member until season 13.

After leaving the Bravo show, Cynthia returned two seasons later as a ‘guest’.

Now she talks to Jeff Lewis on his SiriusXM radio show about how she ended up coming back on the show for season 15, this time as a ‘friend of’.

She tells Jeff this fall: “Yes. Initially, I didn’t want to go back at all. Housewife or a friend ’cause that’d been like, you know, a really long time and I just kind of needed a break…”

RHOA star did a 180

Despite initially rejecting the idea of a RHOA return as a ‘friend of’, Cynthia changed her mind because she “missed the show” and “the girls” too much.

The reality TV star tells Jeff: “…after I had my break, I was like, ‘S***. I kind of miss it a little bit’, so then I thought, ‘Well, I really am focused on my acting career’.”

Thinking of how she’d fit back into the season 15 cast, she adds: “I kind of compared it to, you know, a breakup, but you know, the friend to me felt like, ‘I broke up with you’.”

Cynthia adds: “Oh, well they kind of broke up with me, but anyway, but still be able to get the c***hie. That’s what it felt like.”

Despite having mixed feelings along the way, Cynthia opted to return to the show as a ‘friend of’ in the end.

She tells Jeff: “I felt like I was giving it out without commitment. Yes, so that’s what it felt like.”

The star thought to herself: “…’it’s been like two years now. I was like, “You know what? I actually miss the girls. I miss the show,’ and I felt like the friend role for me is the best way that I want be a part of it at this time.”
