Serie C manager Pep Clotet FURIOUSLY grabs player by collar after picking up a red card

Serie C side Triestina’s manager Pep Clotet shocked fans by furiously reacting towards one of his own players, after the forward was sent off during the match. The ex-Birmingham boss angrily grabbed the player by his collar, ensuing the heated altercation.

Pep Clotet has previously enjoyed stints at English second-tier clubs Oxford and Birmingham, between 2017 and 2020. At the end of his tenure in England, he then shifted to the Italian league, managing Brescia and SPAL. Having been appointed at Triestina just a few weeks ago, he has endured a difficult start to the new season. The club currently finds itself at the bottom of the Serie C group A table. They have managed to win just one out of 14 matches, as Clotet finds his position in danger.

In a recent match against Giana Erminio, the 47-year-old manager was seen holding a player by his collar. He forcefully shook him as well, in anger. The incident occurred in the 33rd minute, after Latvian forward Raimonds Krollis’ was sent off for lashing out at an opponent. He was held by the collar of his shirt, as he was walking down the pitch towards the end of the tunnel. Despite being down to ten men, Triestina held on until the 87th minute, when Gabriel Avinci scored the winner for Giana.

Meanwhile, Clotet received a lot of backlash for his conduct during the match, and with Krollis. However, speaking to reporters after the match, the manager defended his actions. He also claimed that the forward’s antics were unacceptable and could damage Triestina’s reputation.

The defending Italian champions are just a point behind Napoli and enjoy a brilliant nine-match unbeaten streak. The league leaders, on the other hand, come off a poor 0-3 defeat to Atalanta. Inter, on the other hand, would depend on their defensive robustness to counter their opponents’ attack. Napoli’s attacking unit boasts the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Meanwhile, the home side will also be at full strength against the visitors. Inter Milan stars Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram have returned from injury. Napoli will also be boosted by the return of Stanislav Lobotka
