Plateau governor, Caleb Mutfwang, Monday, presented a total of N471.1 billion as the state’s 2025 appropriation bill for consideration by the state House of Assembly.
The governor said the appropriation, tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability,” reflects the commitment of his administration to solidify past achievements and ensure the continued growth and development of Plateau state.
Top on the list of sectoral allocation is the Ministry of Finance with the sum of N57.3 billion.
According to Governor Mutfwang, the proposed appropriation has a recurrent component of N201, 522,433,264.00, representing 43.46% of the total budget size while the capital budget estimate has N258, 852, 660, 277.00, representing 56.54% of the total budget.
“The total budget size indicates an increase of One Hundred and Fifty-Six Billion, Two Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Forty-four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Eight Naira (N156, 278,944,988.00) only over the 2024 approved budget,” Mutfwang said.
He explained that, while the budget estimate prioritised the finance and economic sub-sector with N57. 3 billion, representing 8.24% of the capital estimate, the education sector is allocated N52. 4 billion, representing 11.14 percent, whereas water, energy and sanitation sub-sector has an estimate allocation of N43.6 billion, representing 9.27 percent.
The health is allotted N30.7 billion, representing 6.3 percent, the environment sector N30.03 billion, representing 6.38 percent of the total appropriation.
