“More out than in” – Mohamed Salah gives CRUCIAL update on Liverpool future amidst contract uncertainty

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah provided an update on his future with the club, as he nears the end of his contract. The 32-year-old forward expressed disappointment over the Reds’ inability to offer him a new contract yet, thereby hinting towards a move out of the club.

Mohamed Salah will be out of contract at the end of the season. There is an uncertainty surrounding his future, on whether Liverpool manager Arne Slot wants to keep him at the club beyond 2025. The Egyptian forward has been one of the Reds’ most consistent players, since joining from Roma in 2017. In 367 appearances for Liverpool, Salah has scored 223 goals, making him the club’s all-time fifth highest scorer. This season as well, the 32-year-old has been the Reds’ top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions.

Speaking after scoring twice in a recent 3-2 win over Southampton, Salah expressed disappointment at not receiving a contract extension offer, despite reaching the end of the year. He surprisingly added that it could mean that he might depart Liverpool, in case an offer does not arrive. The 32-year-old also revealed that he had not spoken to the club officials about his contract situation, but reiterated his focus on the ongoing season, and winning the Premier League and the UCL.

I’m probably more out than in. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season… I’m disappointed but we will see.

Liverpool have reportedly been in talks with Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa. In case he decides to leave the club, the 32-year-old could join the Saudi PL, with Al-Ittihad interested. Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk and full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will also be out of contract next summer.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Salah reflected on his side’s recent success and form, as they currently find themselves on top of the EPL table. He added that Liverpool have been going in the right direction. The forward also expressed confidence that they can defeat Man City, whom they face next in the EPL, and gain an 11-point lead at the top.

It’s great, hopefully we can keep going in the right direction. We have a game against them coming up, hopefully, we win so we can go more ahead, like 11 points.
