The 2024 NASCAR Awards has yet again proved how big of a fan base Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott has, despite multiple derivers in the sport doing more than him for the fans as well as the overall sport. He won the Most Popular Driver award, his eight wins in the category since his debut and he is now halfway towards beating his father Bill Elliott’s record.
The main rival Chase Elliott had to overcome this season has been his own teammate, Kyle Larson. The 2021 Cup champion has seen his fanbase growing faster than any other driver in the garage. The No:5 Chevy drivers Indy 500 attempt and other racing ventures has helped him to gain more fans, while Elliott is still massively relaying on his legacy fanbase.
While talking about the latest award win by Elliott, Larson admitted that the No:9 HMS Chevy driver has a bigger fanbase than him despite the growth in the number of his supporters. But he does see a positive side to this as well, as his team Hendrick Motorsports now has the drivers with the biggest fanbases.
He’s definitely got a large fan base, for sure, in NASCAR. It’s cool to see. I feel like my fan base has grown a lot this year with getting to do everything that I’ve done. We’ll see, but he usually wins by quite a bit. You never know. I think it’s cool to be part of Hendrick Motorsports, having probably the two most popular guys in the sport currently.

While talking about his popular driver award win, Chase Elliott admitted that he is grateful to the fans that has supported his him whole career and asserted that the support means a lot to him. He is determined to never take his fans for granted and wants to produce performance that will make them proud.
Certainly, grateful for the fans across the board they’ve been great to me throughout my career and I’ve had the fortunate experience of seeing all that and living that firsthand. It means a lot to me, I’ll never take it for granted. You know, certainly want to try to make those people proud as we move into next year and beyond.
