Kike Hernandez and Joe Kelly talk about Fat Joe ‘curse’ as LA celebrates Dodgers World Series win

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, Kike Hernandez, and pitcher Joe Kelly, both currently free agents, took a snipe at Fat Joe during the parade. They brutally gave assessments of the rapper and even thanked him for showing up on the jumbotron before the 5th inning of Game 5.

Rapper Fat Joe is a New York Yankees fan and was invited to perform during the World Series Game 3. However, instead of giving his team a boost, his performance lifted up the Dodgers, as per Hernandez and Kelly.

During their Friday celebration, Hernandez compared Fat Joe’s performance with Ice Cube during Game 2 of the Fall Classic and talked about the results. He labeled Fat Joe as only Joe as “he isn’t fat anymore.”

Ice Cube came out in Game 2, and with his performance, we didn’t need to play the game, we had already won it. Then we go to New York, and this guy, he used to be fat and he isn’t fat anymore. His name is Joe. He came out and sang, and we didn’t need to play anymore because after that performance, we had already won.

However, he wasn’t the only one to talk smack about the rapper. His teammate Kelly also chimed in saying it’s the “Fat Joe curse”. He said that he knew the moment the pinstripes put Joe on the board, the game was going to tip to their side.

They put Fat Joe up on the board, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s an easy dub now’. You know Fat Joe is the curse.

Hernandez sarcastically noted how he knew they’d win immediately after Joe performed in Game 3, and the LA Dodgers ended up winning 4-2. Fat Joe also received various criticism after his performance on social media.

Kike Hernandez takes a snipe at Olympian Noah Lyles

Outfielder Kike Hernandez did not stop after picking out on Fat Joe after the 4-1 World Series win. He further commented on social media poking at Noah Lyles‘World Champions” comment after Dodgers won the Fall Classic.

Earlier Lyles exclaimed how he thought the NBA wasn’t the true world champions last year. Taking a shot at the Olympic gold medalist sprinter he said,

We’re here, World Series Champions — s*ck it, Noah Lyles.

The criticisms and taunts were not that uncommon as emotions ran high in Los Angeles. Even Chris Russo commented about how unnecessary he felt to have performances like Fat Joe and Ice Cube before the World Series game.

The Fall Classic week went up fast and now the LA Dodgers are celebrating their World Series win. In Game 5 they overcame a 5-0 deficit and went on to win the Championship thanks to the NY Yankees’ several mistakes.
