Michael Jordan joined hands with JGR veteran Denny Hamlin in 2021 with the hopes of establishing a championship capable NASCAR team with formation of 23XI Racing. They have been son far successful in doing so, and their driver Tyler Reddick in the 2024 season finale eying the title. But at the same time the team’s future is in a limbo.
The team refused to the sign the 2025-2031 charter deal and alongside FRM went onto sue NASCAR alleging monopoly. The didn’t get the best start to the legal proceedings though, as they have lost the injunction lawsuit. Now Denny Hamlin has spoked up about it and admitted that he has been nervous about the whole saga.
So, anyway it had been a while [since I’d been to court] but my adrenaline was pumping, right? Because I’m like obviously, you hear the arguments and whatnot. Of course, we feel very adamant on our side of things. There’s certainly, you know, when you wake up one Friday morning you know something’s coming, you’re nervous.
Denny Hamlin said at Phoenix.
While further talking about the point, Denny Hamlin pointed out that he has invested a lot into the sport over the last four season and is now nervous about losing it all pretty quickly. He is hoping the legal case will yield positive result in the near future.
Because obviously, you know, I’ve poured a lot into the sport in multiple ways and certainly financially over the last four years I’ve put back a lot of the money that I got out of it back into it. And that certainly all can be wiped away pretty quickly. So, certainly, it’s a nervous time for me and we hope this thing gets resolved in a peaceful manner or a correct manner to fix it.

Denny Hamlin can’t confirm 23XI Racing will field cars in 2025
While further talking about the point, Denny Hamlin admitted that he isn’t sure whether the team will field cars for the 2025 season as at the moment they don’t have charters for next-season. He pointed out that they have a lot of things to navigate and is hoping that they could potentially race next-season.
I think it’s all TBD. There’s certain things that we’re going to have to navigate, so I hope so.

At the moment the team has two primary focusses, one is winning the 2024 title with Tyler Reddick. The second one is made sure they can survive the drama over the legal battle to make sure they have charters to race next year.
