Thanks to how wildly successful Hell’s Kitchen has been since fans love the show’s meltdowns, Gordon Ramsay is a reality show superstar. However, in addition to many fans not knowing Gordon almost went bankrupt, there are many facts about him and the show that Hell’s Kitchen fans are unaware of. For example, fans don’t know some facts about how the chefs live, and they don’t realize a celebrity chef called out Gordon for his behavior on the show.
There are also things about Hell’s Kitchen that fans don’t understand, like how many of the chefs have confronted Gordon’s intimidating behavior. On top of that, a lot of Hell’s Kitchen fans can’t understand why Gordon didn’t kick out Jackie Fuchs following the ashtray incident.
Hell’s Kitchen Fans Think It Was Outrageous Jackie Fuchs Wasn’t Kicked Off The Show
If you asked most reality show fans to name the best cooking competition show, they would likely bring up Top Chef. However, if you asked the same people to name the most outrageous reality cooking competition show, they would likely discuss Hell’s Kitchen.
A show that is best known for Gordon Ramsay yelling at the competitors, that is far from the only thing that makes Hell’s Kitchen outrageous. After all, the people who compete on Hell’s Kitchen often say and do wild things on the show.
Even still, the way that Jackie Fuchs conducted herself on Hell’s Kitchen took things to a whole other level. In fact, many Hell’s Kitchen fans are outraged that Jackie wasn’t kicked off the show after an incident involving an ashtray.
During the 15th season of Hell’s Kitchen, Jackie exhibited a bad attitude throughout much of her time in the competition. More notably, Jackie didn’t get along with Kristin Barone at all and often was aggressive with her.

For example, a YouTube video that shows Jackie and Kristin arguing shows how out of control things got. After forcefully grabbing Kristin’s lighter out of her hand, Jackie told her fellow chef to punch her. Jackie also threw Kristin’s lighter on the ground, trying to break it. Then, Jackie ashed her cigarette on Kristin’s shoulder before trying to goad her fellow chef into a physical fight again.
On another occasion, Jackie took things even further when she dumped an ashtray on Kristin. That incident was so outrageous that Hell’s Kitchen fans were still complaining about how the show handled it years later.

Gordon Ramsay Showed A Side Fans Rarely See After Answering This Personal Question From A Distressed Cook
Even though Gordon Ramsay is known for his anger, he showed how supportive he can be when he answered a distressed chef’s question.
Years after Jackie Fuchs’ season of Hell’s Kitchen aired in 2016, a fan brought up the ashtray incident on Reddit in 2022.
Jackie Fuchs took a lot of pride in the fact that she was from New Jersey throughout her time competing in
Hell’s Kitchen
. Jackie also seemed proud of how successful she was on the show, since she claimed she’d only been cooking for three months before the competition began.
In a post on the r/HellsKitchen subreddit, a fan argued that Jackie should have been kicked off the show after the ashtray incident.
“Honestly Jackie should have been thrown off the show or disqualified then and there. I don’t know if it was scripted or not, but Kristin seemed genuinely pissed off. It was disrespectful and disgusting. The fact she lasted another two episodes after this annoys me.”
The same person then wrote about how awful they thought Jackie’s season of Hell’s Kitchen was and called her out again. “Season 15 is horrible, and Jackie is one of the most awful contestants that got overlooked for her behavior.”
One of the responses to the post brought up Gordon Ramsay’s role in what Jackie was allowed to do without repercussions.
In August 2020,
Screen Rant
published an article about the most hated seasons of
Hell’s Kitchen
, based on IMDb rankings. That article named Season 15 as the second-worst and explained the hatred for the season. According to
Screen Rant
, fans disliked the season’s winner and were outraged by Jackie Fuchs’ bullying behavior. The article also cited the ashtray incident as an example of Jackie’s awful behavior.
The response stated that Gordon had claimed that he didn’t care about what happened in the dorms only to seemingly go back on that the following season.
“gordon said he doesnt [sic] care about what goes on in the dorms. and of course in the next season he makes his first dorm visit”
Looking back at the 15th season of Hell’s Kitchen, it really is shocking that Gordon didn’t address the ashtray incident in his role as the show’s host.

The top most-upvoted response to the Reddit post about why Jackie should have been ejected from the game agreed she should have been kicked out.
During Jackie’s
Hell’s Kitchen
tenure, it wasn’t just Kristin Barone that she got annoyed with. In fact, Jackie regularly insulted the other chefs in the competition for a variety of professional, personal, and superficial reasons.
However, that fan claimed that Kristin may have played a role in Jackie sticking around. Finally, the response suggested it ultimately was a good thing that Jackie was eliminated for messing up in the kitchen for a specific reason.
“I thought this exact same thing when i saw it! Should have been grounds for immediate dismissal. But on the other hand i had read somewhere that Kristin didnt want to have her ejected because she wanted to beat her downright. Dont know if thats true or not, but im glad she stayed and lost for a bad service cause we all know if she got booted then she would be jabbering about how she would have won if she didnt get ejected.”
A completely different Reddit post from 2022 also brought up the idea that Jackie should have been kicked off Hell’s Kitchen. A post on the r/HellsKitchen subreddit asked the show’s fans what they thought was the worst moment in Hell’s Kitchen history. The top most-upvoted response to that question focused on what Jackie did to Kristin.
“When Jackie poured the ashtray on Kristen. Drama is 1 thing but physical assault is when it goes a bit too far”
Another fan then agreed with that response and expressed astonishment that Jackie wasn’t kicked out for the ashtray incident.
How did she not get kicked out?

‘Hell’s Kitchen’s’ chefs are manipulated into looking awful by the show’s producers, according to two former competitors.
After often being aggressive and argumentative on Hell’s Kitchen, Jackie Fuchs reacted to her elimination in a Facebook post. If anyone expected Jackie to lash out, that isn’t what happened at all. Instead, Jackie expressed her appreciation for her Hell’s Kitchen experience.
“I’m very grateful for my time on #HellsKitchen. Thank you to all who have watched and supported!”
While Jackie’s Facebook post was classy, a Yahoo! Entertainment article revealed that wasn’t how she initially handled her elimination. Instead, the episode of Hell’s Kitchen that showed Jackie’s elimination also revealed her immediate reaction. On the show, Jackie was very boastful even as she exited the competition.
“I’m here not because of my cooking but how I get mad, how I’m not professional. Maybe they’re just intimidated. Maybe they thought I was going to kill them all.”
The Yahoo! Entertainment article also quoted what Gordon Ramsay said on the show about Jackie’s exit. “Jackie was one of the most outspoken chefs on Hell’s Kitchen. Her mouth was bigger than her talent.”
