Tragically, reality TV fame proved too fickle an antidote for Kate and Jon’s flailing marriage. After four years of starring alongside each other on the fan-favorite show, Kate and Jon ultimately filed for divorce, bringing their decade-long marriage to a screeching halt.

Prior to the custody battle, Hannah Joy had voiced discomfort about living in Kate Gosselin’s house. As the teen would later reveal in an interview with ET, this discomfort had a lot to do with her mother’s parenting decisions.
“I just feel like there was unfair treatment in my mom’s house and I just wanted to live with my dad.”
Hannah was referring to her mom’s treatment of her twin brother Collin, whom she enrolled in residential treatment for behavioral issues at just 11 years old.

“I think every son wants to have a relationship with their mom. But I’m doing very well.”

As such, the teen, who celebrated her 18th birthday back in March 2022, has made sure not to lose touch with them.
“I miss my siblings,” she told ET on her 18th birthday.
“I mean, we all do share, like, the same birthday, it’s a big day for all of us today. As soon as I woke up, they texted me happy birthday and I sent them a happy birthday text back.”

Thankfully, there weren’t any blowouts – possibly due to the fact that, as Jon explained, “There was a whole football field between us.” However, that’s not to say there wasn’t any awkwardness.
According to sources who spoke with The U.S. Sun, though Kate showed up and took pictures, she didn’t clap for Hannah or Collin …and completely ignored the latter.
