Food Network’s Tobias Dorzon gives an update

Following the news of Tobias being a victim in a Maryland double shooting this November, he takes to social media to provide his fans with an update.

The cooking connoisseur reassures his followers he’s in a stable condition after the terrifying ordeal.

A November 6 Facebook post from the Hyattsville Police Department read: “We are on the scene of a double shooting in the 2500 block of Kirkwood Place. Initial information is 4 suspects attempted to rob a man and woman as they returned from dinner. The 2 were shot. They’ve been taken to the hospital. It’s believed that their injuries are not life threatening. We are working to get a description of the suspects.”

Days later, Tobias took to Instagram with a post captioned: “I’m still here thank you to everyone for the prays see y’all soon…. Huncho.”

Many pray for Tobias’ ‘speedy recovery’

Before breaking into the world of food, Tobias was a football player. However, he opted to attend the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Washington 12 years ago.

Building on the success of his culinary career, Tobias opened multiple restaurants in 2018, 2021, and 2022.

He’s the owner of Huncho House in Hyattsville, Maryland, and another spot in the city, per council member Wanika Fisher’s statement on the shooting.

Fisher writes: “I am disheartened and saddened by the news that Prince George’s County restaurant owner Tobias Dorzon was one of two people shot during an attempted robbery Tuesday night in my district. Chef Dorzon owns two amazing restaurants in Hyattsville…”

She adds: “Such a horrible act couldn’t have happened to a better person. I am sending my deepest sympathies to him and the second victim, as well as their families and friends, and I wish them both a speedy recovery. We have no place for this kind of senseless violence in our district or our county.”

Many people also take to Instagram to wish Tobias a speedy recovery and more send “prayers” his way.

One writes: “God isn’t done with You yet!!! Praying for a speedy recovery Chef.”
