A renowned economic consultant, Chukudi Emezie, has described the proposed National Digital Economy as a major catalyst for sustainable transformation in a modern era of competitiveness.
Speaking at a one day stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, Tuesday, Mr. Emezie said the time has come for all Nigerians to embrace the concept of digital literacy to be able grapple with the nitty-gritty of accessing the much needed information in all spheres of governance.
According to him, supporting a speedy passage of the bill entailed a painstaking effort on the part of the National Assembly, affirming that effecting s paradigm shift in the area of digital revolution has become absolutely necessary.
He said the bill had been conceived to cover all frontiers of business and commerce in addition to promoting the drive for sustainable industrial development; without encountering obstacles and hitches on the way to achieving the strategic goals.
He pointed out that getting access to what the government is doing would afford every citizen the opportunity to capture the business of governance without tears, adding that the proposed bill would have the capacity to checkmate the craze for anti-competitiveness.
On his part, the special adviser toKano state governor on Information Technology and Digital Communication, Dr Bashir Abdu Muxakari, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to effect a sustainable digital drive, adding that Kano being a citadel of leadership and commerce, would not be left out.
